Ballina

Ballina Coast & Hinterland

The next stop on our foodie journey was the  scenic town of Ballina. We would highly recommend adding this location as a pit stop on your next road trip as it offered gorgeous views, a peaceful atmosphere and an incredible variety of delicious restaurants/cafes!

We began our morning with a stroll along Ballina's historical waterfront trail. This was a super relaxing way to start the day, and we were immersed in the towns history, aboriginal heritage, and artworks, all while enjoying the terrific views of the Richmond river.

At the halfway point we stopped off at the delightful Belle General cafe, where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and coffee in a refreshing beachside atmosphere. The menu had so many wholesome and appetising breakfast options, all made with a range of fresh and local produce. They also catered well for vegetarians and people with food intolerances.

The 'belle super' (pictured above) was a favourite pick amongst the group - it was a delicious combination of perfectly poached eggs, avocado, fresh herb salad and tomatoes all on homemade sourdough toast. I ordered mine with a side of organic bacon (YUM!)

The menu also included a range of smoothie options, made fresh from ingredients sourced straight from Uralba Valley. A stand out - The 'summer smoothie' - was a treat for the taste buds, with a delicious mix of mango, banana, raspberries, honey, coconut cream and almond milk. As we were leaving, we couldn't help but take away a few of the mouth watering, house-made cakes that were on display, which we saved for a delicious snack later on in the day.

Overall

Price: $$
Quality: 10/10
Value: 9/10

All in all, the atmosphere was wonderful, staff were friendly and efficient, and the food/drinks were of a very high standard. Would definitely recommend adding Belle General to your brunching bucket list!!

Stay tuned for our next location!
